Evaluation of early maturing advanced breeding lines of rabi sorghum for drought tolerance

Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) is a C4 grass plant, originated from the tropics and generally more heat drought tolerant regions. In present study experiments were conducted in split plot design with three replications during post-rainy season 2020-21 at Centre on Rabi (ICAR-Indian Institute of Millets Research) Solapur under levels water regimes (three environments) along four checks viz., Phule Suchitra, CSV-26, Anuradha & M35-1. Drought susceptible genotypes categorized basis Stress Susceptible Index (SSI), Weighted Geometric Mean index (WGMI) regression line. Growth Stage -I correlation coefficient between maturity, plant height panicle length [0.46**] was positive significant which indicates that as maturity increases, also increases. – II peduncle [0.62**] significant, shows higher length, will be it directly related to stover yield. Under all environments observed that, earlier flowering. GS-1, GS-II WW environment Correlation days 50% flowering, [0.44**], [0.56**] [0.57**] respectively relationship environments. This common trait found stress conditions suchitra (20.07) DTE-14 (21.14) varieties gave high grain yield compared other early verities. physiological experiment, stomatas stem leaf flag showed played important role photosynthesis supply energy for growth development. The results are first its kind this study.
